Lt. Eric Heneon, Georgetown County Fire Department, reads the injury card of a simulated casualty, March 8, 2015, at the Choppee Regional Resource Center, Georgetown, S.C., during search and rescue exercises conducted during Vigilant Guard 2015. The injures were simulated through moulage, a technique of applying mock injuries for the purpose of training Emergency Response Teams and other medical and military personnel, that ranged from minor cuts and bruises to more serious injuries. Those pretending to be injured in the building collapse were triaged and released or treated according to their injuries. Vigilant Guard is a series of federally funded disaster-response drills conducted by National Guard units working with federal, state and local emergency management agencies and first responders.
