Gen. Dan MeNeill, commanding general, FORSCOM, greets Lt. Col. Jeffrey Kelly, commander, 1st Battalion, 17th Infantry Regiment, 172nd Stryker Brigade Combat Team at Forward Operating Base Marez, Mosul, Iraq Mar. 29.
McNeill received a briefing at Logistical Staging Area Diamondback from Brig. Gen. Ricky Rife, assistant division commander, 101st Airborne Division, and Col. Michael Shields, commander 172nd SBCT about the area of operations in northern Iraq.
After the briefing Gen McNeill boarded a Stryker vehicle and took a brief tour of the 1-17th Inf. Headquarters; inspecting a damaged Stryker vehicle that was hit by an Improvised Explosive Device that caused little damage.
