The last CH-47 Chinook helicopter from Task Force Iron Knights, 2nd Battalion, 501st Aviation Regiment, 1st Combat Aviation Brigade, 1st Armored Division, taxis along the runway before taking off from Robert’s International Airport, located outside Monrovia, Liberia, on its final flight in West Africa Feb. 9, 2015, where it was used to support the Joint Forces Command -- United Assistance during Operation United Assistance. The Chinook is headed to the Port of Buchanan where it is slated to be cleaned, broken down and loaded on a shipping vessel for transport back to its home station at Fort Bliss, Texas. Operation United Assistance is a Department of Defense operation in Liberia to provide logistics, medical training and engineering support to U.S. Agency for International Development-led efforts to contain the Ebola virus outbreak in western Africa.
