A Guatemalan special forces soldier, or "Kaibil," with the “Grupo Especial de Interdicción y Rescate,” awaits instruction from his leaders during a pistol marksmanship training event Jan. 28 in Poptun, Guatemala. The Kaibils are assigned to the "Grupo Especial de Interdicción y Rescate,” or GEIR, a quick reaction force that specializes in interdiction and rescue operations throughout the country. Special Operations Command South assists partner nations through training exchanges enabled by its theater security cooperation program.
