Retired French Consulate Nicole Yancey and French Col. Denys Colomb, the French National Liaison Representative to Supreme Allied Commander Transformation, present the French Legion of Honor medal to former Army Lt. Cary Jarvis Jan. 11, 2015, in Norfolk, Va. Jarvis, a Norfolk native and Virginia Beach resident, landed on the beaches of Normandy on June 6, 1944, with the Virginia National Guard’s 111th Field Artillery Regiment, 29th Infantry Division. The French Legion of Honor is the highest decoration bestowed in France.
