Civilian and military police members are recognized for their contributions and sacrifice during Police Week, May 10 through May 16. Messina is a MWD handler is assigned to 376th Expeditionary Security Forces Squadron's MWD Flight, and is deployed from Vandenberg Air Force Base, Calif. The Truth or Consequences, N.M., native is partnered with Rico, who is a Belgian Malinois.
