Gunnery Sgt. Niles Peden, from Hinesville, Georgia, radios to the safety boat before reconnaissance Marines set off for a 4,000 meter swim Nov. 18 during a pre-combatant diver course at Camp Schwab. The 4,000 meter swim is part of a 10-day training the Marines attend prior to the Marine Corps Combatant Diver Course. The attrition rate for this course is 20 percent.
