Public Works Department Great Lakes engineering technician Susan Geer supervises the installation of a 200-foot wind testing tower at Naval Station Great Lakes, Ill. Anemometers on the tower will collect weather data over the course of a year to determine the feasibility and economic viability of installing wind turbines for electric production at the base. The testing is being performed under a contract issued by the Naval Facilities Engineering Service Center in partnership with the Idaho National Laboratory, under the oversight of PWD Great Lakes.
