U.S. Navy Hospital Corpsman Jennifer Bell prepares a unit of blood at a level two surgical station aboard the Guided Missile Cruiser USS Anzio (CG 68). Bell is a member of the Expeditionary Resuscitative Surgical System (ERSS), a ten-member deployable surgical team that was deployed in support the multinational Combined Task Force 151 conducting counter-piracy ops in the Gulf of Aden and Somali Basin off the coast of the Horn of Africa. The ERSS is unique in the fact that is this first time a level two trauma system was forward deployed to surface combatant units engaged in real-world operations. (Official Navy photo by Lt. Cmdr.
