Marines with the Force Reconnaissance detachment, 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit, and sailors with the Assault Craft Unit 1, Amphibious Squadron 5 deploy in rigid hull inflatable boats from the USS San Diego as part of a visit board search and seizure (VBSS) mission conducted during Composite Training Unit Exercise (COMPTUEX) off the coast of southern California, May 17, 2014. The 11th MEU and Amphibious Squadron 5 team conduct COMPTUEX to hone mission essential tasks, execute specified MEU and Amphibious Ready Group operations, and establish the foundation for a cohesive warfighting team for future exercises and operations.
