The USS San Diego supports the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit as the Force Reconnaissance detachment conducts a visit board search and seizure (VBSS) mission during Composite Training Unit Exercise (COMPTUEX) off the coast of southern California, May 17, 2014. COMPTUEX provides the 11th MEU, along with the Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group, the opportunity to conduct command and control of amphibious operations from the sea.
