Marines with the Force Reconnaissance Detachment, 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit and sailors with Assault Craft Unit 1, Amphibious Squadron 5, deploy in rigid hull inflatable boats from the USS San Diego as part of a visit board search and seizure (VBSS) mission conducted during Composite Training Unit Exercise (COMPTUEX) off the coast of southern California, May 17, 2014. COMPTUEX is the second at-sea event in the 11th MEU and Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group joint predeployment training program, during which they will refine mission-related operations and blue-green communication.
