Petty Officer 2nd Class Travis Kent, an aviation maintenance technician, and Petty Officer 3rd Class Dave Munns, an aviation survival technician, both from Air Station Sitka, perform their duties aboard a Coast Guard MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter during a training flight in Southeast Alaska, Sept. 30, 2013. Munns checks the monitors that can be switched from standard view to infrared as necessary to scan the surrounding area for additional flight traffic and hazards, as well as to search for missing persons or vessels in the water or on land. The standard crew on a Jayhawk consists of a pilot, co-pilot, flight mechanic and rescue swimmer who work as a cohesive unit to execute search and rescue missions, assist mariners in distress, provide medevac transport and conduct other necessary operations.
