Denise Scheller, New Horizons civil affairs member deployed from the 1st Civil Affairs Group of Camp Pendleton, Calif., left, speaks with the principal of Our Lady of Sorrows Roman Catholic School during a medical readiness training exercise April 28, 2014, in Dolores, a remote village in southern Belize. The principal, as well as other teachers and local community health workers assisted with logistics and translating during medical and dental exams during the medical exercise. Belizean locals received medical care through Belizean health care workers, as well as Canadian and U.S. military care providers during the medical readiness training exercise, or MEDRETE. The MEDRETEs offer medical health professionals from all three countries the opportunity to train and interact with one another while providing free health care to Belizean residents.
