Mark Francis, the Garrison Sexual Assault Response Coordinator here, supervises the group discussion portion of a quarterly SHARP training class April 24, at the Oveta Culp Hobby Soldier and Family Readiness Center. Francis stated the class derives it scenarios from the Houston Area Women’s Center in Houston. The Soldiers sit shoulder-to-shoulder in a circle to dissipate any uncomfortable awkwardness prior to discussing their experiences. Francis, a retired service member, has devoted the past eight years to the enlightenment of those unaware of what SHARP victims endure during and after an incident.
