    III Marine Expeditionary Force

A U.S. Marine guides an assault amphibious vehicle as it backs off the Military Sealift Command maritime prepositioning force ship USNS 2nd Lt. John P. Bobo March 11 at Gwangyang Port, Republic of Korea, during exercise Freedom Banner 2014. The equipment aboard the Bobo was offloaded by Marines and sailors to support exercises in the Republic of Korea, such as the amphibious assault exercise Ssang Yong 14 and the Marine Expeditionary Force Exercise. Freedom Banner is an annual exercise in support of MEFEX, which will project U.S. military power and exercise maritime prepositioning force ship offloading capabilities similar to what would occur during a wartime or disaster relief scenario while giving Marines an opportunity to strengthen ties between the U.S. and the Republic of Korea.
