Recruits of Kilo Company, 3rd Recruit Training Battalion, tend to the wounds of a simulated casualty March 7, 2014, during the Crucible on Parris Island, S.C. The recruits stuffed and bandaged open wounds and crafted makeshift splints for a broken limb. Recruits worked together throughout the exercise as their drill instructors supervised and evaluated their teamwork. The Crucible is a 54-hour assessment at the end of boot camp that validates recruits’ development into Marines. Kilo Company is scheduled to graduate March 14, 2014. (Photo by Cpl. Octavia Davis)
