Staff Sgt. Ricardo Ramirez draws a rabies vaccine at Point Hope, Alaska, as part of Innovative Readiness Training Arctic Care 2013. Ramirez, an animal care specialist with the 109th Veterinary Detachment from Garden Grove, Calif., is providing services in remote locations to under-served populations in northern part of Alaska as well as teaching local students about veterinary care. Arctic Care is a multi-service humanitarian and training program focusing on enhancing the interoperability and capacity of U.S. forces in peacetime support operations, humanitarian assistance and disaster relief.
