Commander of Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling Navy Capt. Anthony T. Calandra and an Air Force airman survey approximately 200 rows of bookshelves built by military volunteers and painted by the students with assistance from military and civilian volunteers. Each student of Madeline Leckie Elementary was able to take home their own bookshelf with one book as part of the school's "What's On Your Shelf?" literacy program.
