A list of names is outlined on a paper. Brian Kirkpatrick, then a corporal and combat engineer attached to "C" Company, 1st Battalion, 8th Marines, 24th Marine Amphibious Unit, wrote the list while waiting in a hospital in the Republic of Cyprus. On Oct. 23,1983, a suicide bomber driving a truck rammed into the barracks with 12,000 pounds of high explosives detonating one of the largest non-nuclear bombings in history.
