Jose Rocha, a civil engineer, inspects a pedestrian bridge near the Mary Walker Clinic for damage and further use at Fort Irwin, Calif., Aug. 29, 2013. The Los Angeles District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, deployed a five-man team to conduct initial damage assessments after a monsoon struck the base. The raging waters and debris flow from the monsoonal rainfall eroded the soil and concrete around the bridges' support footing. The bridge has been closed pending further analysis of the damage.
