Pacific Friendship is an annual, bilateral humanitarian assistance and disaster relief (HA/DR) engagement co-led by U.S. Army Pacific and the Vietnamese People’s Army. The mission focuses on various medical, engineering and disaster management activities in support of a free and open Indo-Pacific.
Established in 2025, Pacific Friendship strengthens 31 years of U.S.-Vietnam diplomatic relations. Through hands-on military-to-civilian and military-to-military engagements, the mission builds readiness and deepens relationships between U.S. forces and Vietnamese leaders, medical experts and emergency managers.
The engagement integrates active-duty, reserve and National Guard Soldiers operating alongside host-nation partners. The 18th Theater Medical Command serves as the Army Forces (ARFOR) headquarters in charge of the engagement. show less
