Department of the Army Best Warrior 2011 competitors warm up prior to the start of the Army Physical Fitness Test portion of the contest, Oct. 3, on Fort Lee, Va. The week-long competition kicked off at 5:00 a.m., with a chilly and wet APFT. The APFT measures soldiers' muscular strength, endurance, and cardiovascular respiratory fitness based on three events; push-ups, sit-ups, and a two-mile run.
