Staff Sgt. Renee Valdiva explains how the Civil Military Operations Center (CMOC) works to a group of Congressional staff members during a tour of “Pineland” at Camp Mackall, N.C., on Sept. 28, 2011. Pineland is a simulated Forward Operating Base and Village in which Civil Affairs Soldiers undergo their final qualification before becoming members of the Civil Affairs Community. The staffers are visiting Fort Bragg and Camp Mackall during “Army Reserve Day” to get a better understanding of the training and the challenges the Army Reserve, the U.S. Army Civil Affairs & Psychological Operations Command (Airborne) and the Special Warfare Center & School face on a daily basis.
