Non-Commissioned Officer Academy commandant and North Hampton, Mass. native, Command Sgt. Maj. Peter Brooks, presents Tacoma, Wash. native, Capt. Randy Viray, 2nd Brigade, Reserve Officers' Training Corps, a plaque recognizing his work in attempting to revive Sgt. 1st Class Mary Russell at Army Support Activity-Dix May 12. Viray was the first respondent to the accident scene where Russell, a former NCOA member, died in a traffic accident April 20. The plaque reads "With deep appreciation from the Soldiers of the NCO Academy for demonstrating the credo 'I will never leave a fallen comrade,' your service to our comrade will always remain in our hearts. In memory of SFC M. Russell, 25 Aug. 1964-20 Apr. 2010."
