U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Josias Pico and U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Steve Elhajj wait to resume dig operations during a Joint POW/MIA Accounting Command mission. Pico and Elhajj were assigned as recovery noncommissioned officers on a 16-member specialized recovery team for more than 45 days searching for the remains of nine service members whose plane crashed during World War II. The Joint POW/MIA Accounting Command conducts global search, recovery and laboratory operations to identify unaccounted-for Americans from past conflicts in order to support the Department of Defense's personnel accounting efforts.
