U.S. Army Sgt. Chad Pilkington screens dirt for possible remains or material evidence on a dry-screening station during a Joint POW/MIA Accounting Command mission. Pilkington was part of a 16-member specialized recovery team for more than 45 days searching for the remains of nine service members whose plane crashed during World War II. He was assigned as the explosive ordnance disposal technician from his home unit of the 702nd EOD, Grafenwoehr, Germany. The Joint POW/MIA Accounting Command conducts global search, recovery and laboratory operations to identify unaccounted-for Americans from past conflicts in order to support the Department of Defense's personnel accounting efforts.
