盆踊りは、日本の伝統的な夏の踊りの祭りであり、お盆の時期に行われる行事である。音楽や踊り、食を通じて地域の人々が集うこの祭りは、約500年前から続く長い歴史を持っている。 厚木基地での盆踊りの歴史は1959年に遡る。この年、基地内で初めての盆踊り大会が開催された。
