January is Operations Security (OPSEC) Awareness Month. This year, the Department of the Defense (DoD) OPSEC Awareness Month theme is the safeguarding of critical Information. OPSEC is paramount in preserving the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of critical and sensitive information. Every Sailor, Marine, civilian, and contractor must understand what OPSEC is, what critical information they need to protect, and how to keep it safe through identification, prevention and reporting.
