The Drill Sergeant Candidate Assessment Program (DSCAP) remains a solid foundation for preparing Army Reserve drill sergeant candidates for success at the United States Army Drill Sergeant Academy (USADSA). December 2025’s DSCAP held at Fort Jackson was the largest to date, with over 140 candidates participating in a series of training modules and administrative evaluations.
DSCAP, initiated by the 108th Training Command (IET), is designed to streamline the path for Army Reserve candidates to earn the iconic campaign hat. The program evaluates candidates on the Army Combat Fitness Test (ACFT), the recitation of the Drill Sergeant Creed, and the delivery of required training modules. For candidates who need support, DSCAP offers tailored improvement plans, ensuring each participant has a clear path to success. The program also removes administrative barriers, facilitating smooth transitions for candidates securing their positions at USADSA. If you are currently part of a USAR Drill Sergeant unit or considering becoming a USAR Drill Sergeant, the Drill Sergeant Candidate Assessment Program is your pathway to becoming a leader who inspires and trains the Army's next generation.
