U.S., India strengthen defense ties at 22nd Military Cooperation Group

U.S. Indo-Pacific Command Deputy Commander Lt. Gen. Joshua M. Rudd and India Chief of Integrated Defence Staff Air Marshal Ashutosh Dixit co-chaired the 22nd Military Cooperation Group at USINDOPACOM headquarters in Honolulu, Nov. 3-4, 2025.

The MCG featured briefings on the U.S.-India defense framework, a 10-year agreement that acts as a key component of the U.S.-India Major Defense Partnership. The ten-year framework was most recently renewed by U.S. Secretary of War Pete Hegseth and Minister of Defence of India Rajnath Singh, during the ASEAN Defense Ministers’ Meeting-Plus in Kuala Lumpur, Oct. 31.

Participants covered key topics such as logistics cooperation, enhancing military interoperability, expanding joint technology development and co-production, improving intelligence and information sharing, and strengthening regional security coordination in the Indo-Pacific. Personnel representing U.S. Armed Forces included U.S. Africa Command, U.S. Central Command, and U.S. Space Command.

The U.S.-India strategic partnership is founded on shared values, including a commitment to democracy and upholding security, freedom, and prosperity.

USINDOPACOM is committed to enhancing stability in the Indo-Pacific region by promoting security cooperation, encouraging peaceful development, responding to contingencies, deterring aggression and, when necessary, prevailing in conflict.
