    8th Fighter Wing

KUNSAN AIR BASE, Republic of Korea-- Staff Sgt. Shemuel Bowman, a native of Kutztown, Pennsylvania and 8th Operations Group group training manager, was awarded the 8th FW’s ‘Pride of the Pack’ for the week of June 2–6.

As the 8th OG focal point for training and readiness across 17 Air Force Specialty Code’s spanning three squadrons, Bowman has played a pivotal role in streamlining and enhancing operational effectiveness. He identified and implemented tracking for four annual and three security training requirements that had previously gone unmonitored, improving compliance oversight for 191 personnel.

In his capacity as the 8th OG security manager, he oversaw all security clearances and reinvestigations, submitted 27 visit access requests for the Red Flag - Alaska exercise and managed Secret Internet Protocol Router Network [SIPR] token issuance for both the Red Flag - Alaska and Freedom Flag exercises. His efforts ensured seamless participation in high-level exercises and safeguarded mission readiness.

As the 8th FW mission partner affiliate sponsor manager, Bowman resolved a two-year positional gap in common access card sponsorship by collaborating with the 8th FW wing staff agencies to reconstruct the Department of Defense sponsorship credentialing process, supporting 50 U.S. and Korean contractors and ensuring mission continuity.

Bowman, the facility manager for building 1305, also led a renovation project where he coordinated repairs, painting, signage and landscaping improvements for the building while also fulfilling multiple other additional duties such as Weighted Airman Promotion System [WAPS] monitor, emergency management support team member and more.

Striving beyond his primary duties, Bowman also recently led three Sexual Assault and Prevention Response and Suicide Prevention sessions, completed four college courses, graduated from the Foundation Course Facilitator program and organized key squadron events to boost morale.

Thank you, Staff Sgt. Bowman, for your outstanding leadership and dedication to the Wolf Pack mission. Congratulations on being this week’s ‘Pride of the Pack’!
