Naval Hospital (NH) Jacksonville and Naval Branch Health Clinics (NBHC) Jacksonville, Key West and Mayport have officially launched the Military Health System’s new electronic health record, MHS GENESIS.
The new health record will deliver data to healthcare teams wherever patients receive treatment-whether it is at a medical facility within the Department of Defense, Department of Veterans Affairs or the U.S. Coast Guard.
The transition to MHS GENESIS followed months of preparation including staff training, equipment upgrades, and mock launches.
“MHS GENESIS will enhance our ability to better serve our patients, while making life a lot easier for our providers,” said Capt. Sharon House, Naval Hospital Jacksonville director and Navy Medicine Readiness and Training Command (NMRTC) Jacksonville commander. “Please know that as we transition into MHS GENESIS, our patients will experience reduced appointments or longer wait times as our staff becomes efficient with the new system, we do ask for patience, as safety is our highest priority.”
MHS GENESIS will provide a single health record for service members, veterans, and their families. It offers enhanced, secure technology and the complete integration of inpatient and outpatient health records from the point of injury to the military medical treatment facility.
With its new portal, patients will have 24/7 secure access to:
• records (such as lab results)
• submit prescription renewals
• request medical and active duty dental appointments
• send secure email messages to your care team.
MHS GENESIS pharmacy options include Pharmacy Home Delivery (www.tricare.mil/homedelivery or 877-363-1303) and TRICARE network pharmacies.
To access the MHS GENESIS Patient Portal, a Common Access Card (CAC), DFAS account credentials, or a DS Logon Premium Account is needed.
For help with the DS Logon, see the “frequently asked questions” at: https://patientportal.mhsgenesis.health.mil. For additional help, call Defense Manpower Data Center at 800-538-9552 or the DMDC Contact Center at 800-368-3665.
The Nurse Advice Line (800-874-2273) remains open 24/7 to triage symptoms and help patients find care. Families and retirees don’t need a referral to receive urgent care at a TRICARE-authorized urgent care center or network provider. It’s a good idea to have prescription refills on hand.
NH Jacksonville and NMRTC Jacksonville deliver health care and readiness. NH Jacksonville and its five branch health clinics serve 175,000 active duty, active duty family members, and retired service members, including 57,000 patients enrolled with a primary care manager. NMRTC Jacksonville and its five units support warfighters' medical readiness to deploy and clinicians' readiness to save lives. To learn more, visit: https://jacksonville.tricare.mil.
