FORT CARSON, Colo. — If you were going to plan to build an intramural flag football team from scratch, two of the ingredients you would want to have are speed and power. The Fort Carson intramural league Saints give a good look at what that blueprint looks like.
The Saints started the season with a 27-13 win and followed that up with a 28-7 victory Sept. 12, 2022, at the Mountain Post football Complex. What the Saints have shown in their first two games is they are going to be a challenge for any team not prepared for a battle.
Clyde Glover, Saints coach, could not hide his feelings when talking about his team and the potential it has showed.
“Everything about this team is special. We have speed and power. I like to say whatever this team would need, we have it and we have shown that in the way we have played so far,” Glover said.
Glover said teams are going to have to spend a lot of time figuring out how they want to attack his team’s defense or stop its offense as both units have exceptional, multi-faceted talent “Our offensive and defensive philosophy is simple. We aren’t going to change a thing that we do. We will keep running our stuff until someone stops us or we must stop them. One thing that gives us a lot of confidence is If we do what we know to do, no one will beat us, and I feel strongly about that,” Glover said.
Glover said all is not rosy and the team does have one area it wants to get stronger, communication. He said they have many good players who know the game and know what they can contribute, so the coaches want to be aware of what everyone needs and how everyone is thinking in order to stay on one path.
