The Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support welcomed the new Troop Support Indo-Pacific commander to the organization during a two-day virtual visit June 3-4.
Navy Cmdr. Eric Decker met with Troop Support Acting Commander Richard Ellis, and leaders from each of the five supply chains and the operations and plans office.
This new role, which he assumed on April 30, marks Decker’s return to DLA Troop Support. In November 2007, he reported to the Defense Supply Center Philadelphia as a joint contracting integrator. From August 2008 to March 2009, he completed a deployment with the DLA Support Team-Afghanistan as the Class 1 Expediter.
“I really appreciate all of your time,” Decker said during a meeting with the Construction and Equipment supply chain. “It’s really valuable and helpful to learn, and it’s nice to hear some friendly old voices.”
Throughout his visit, Decker asked about various topics including medical sales, cyber security and supply chain interruptions.
During his meeting with Subsistence, Decker asked about future conferences. He said he already visited with several produce companies, and he thinks that, “networking equals understanding requirements and capabilities.”
“Personal networking is invaluable in my mind,” he said.
Decker’s previous assignment was with the Commander Pacific Fleet, where he served as the staff execution branch head for the N00F Fleet Comptroller.
