MULDRAUGH, Ky. – Soldiers from the 1st Theater Sustainment Command (TSC) participated in the Muldraugh “Down Home Days” Parade Oct. 6.
This marks the fourth consecutive year the city of Muldraugh has held their parade. This is the first time the 1st TSC has participated in a parade since its move from Fort Bragg, N.C. in the summer of 2017.
Col. Sidney Melton, chief of staff for the 1st TSC, and his spouse Michelle, served as the grand marshals for the parade.
“It’s an honor to be here today,” Melton said. ”Throughout history, the military and the surrounding communities have always relied on each other, through good times and bad. Today the 1st TSC wants to thank Mayor Noon and the Muldraugh community for having us here, representing Fort Knox.”
According to the official Muldraugh website, the city known as the “Gateway to Gold,” has the distinction of being the only city in the United States that lies only on one side of a major highway.
Mayor Joseph E. Noon, Sr., Muldraugh’s eighth mayor and retired United States Army veteran invited the 1st TSC to participate in this parade.
“I wanted the 1st Theater Sustainment Command to be here today to show my appreciation to Fort Knox,” Noon said. “I would love to see more involvement with the 1st TSC and the community of Muldraugh.”
Noon believes in the mantra, “Duty, Honor, and Country.” He said as a retired Soldier, he does what he feels is right.
“I am a Soldier for life,” Noon said. “I want to give back to the community and this is the best way I know how to do that.”
