MILLINGTON, Tenn. – Navy Recruiting Command (NRC) qualified the newest assistant chief recruiters (ACR) to support the national recruiting teams, June 13.

The ACR is considered to be a subject matter expert in all fields of recruiting. Their role is to support their respective chief recruiters of their specific Navy Recruiting District (NRD) or Navy Talent Acquisition Group (NTAG).

“Becoming an ACR is a culmination of years of hard work and dedication,” said Chief Recruiter of NRC, Master Chief Navy Counselor Franklin Tiongco. “They are the best of the best when it comes to leading, training and motivating our recruiters.”

Tiongco explained that the ACRs also provide guidance and counsel to other senior leadership such as command master chiefs, executive officers and commanding officers.

“Qualifying for this is an honor and very humbling,” said Senior Chief Navy Counselor Daniza Kramer, a selectee for ACR. “I never thought I would make it this far in the Navy. I came in with small intentions but the Navy quickly became something I am very passionate about. I converted to recruiting and became a navy counselor because it fit what I wanted to do with my life, which is being able to change someone’s life the way the Navy changed mine.”

The requirements for becoming an ACR necessitate a senior Sailor to be well versed in the world of recruiting, and the qualifying process ensures that these leaders are ready to support those goals.

“I have been selected for this because of the support of my Sailors and my family,” said Senior Chief Navy Counselor William Curry, a selectee for ACR and the winner of the Division Leading Chief Petty Officer of the Year for NRC’s Recruiter of the Year FY17. “I started recruiting as an [hospital corpsman 1st class] and never thought that becoming an ACR would be a possibility. This is something that I have been working hard to accomplish. It’s important to me and to my family.”

The newly qualified ACR’s are as followed; Navy Counselor Senior Chief Astacha Jones, NRD San Antonio; Navy Counselor Senior Chief Sara Drake, NRD New York; Navy Counselor Senior Chief Robert Spence, NRC; Navy Counselor Senior Chief William Currie, NRD Phoenix; Navy Counselor Senior Chief Daniza Kramer, NRD San Diego; Navy Counselor Chief Scott Doughty, NTAG Portland.
