    21st Theater Sustainment Command

KAISERSLAUTERN, Germany – U.S. Army Europe’s logistics command changed its senior enlisted advisor, May 18, during a change of responsibility ceremony here.

Command Sgt. Maj. Rocky Carr assumed responsibility for the 21st Theater Sustainment Command from Command Sgt. Maj. Alberto Delgado during a ceremony on Daenner Kaserne. Delgado will be the command sergeant major for U.S. Army North, a three-star U.S. Army Service Component Command based in Fort Sam Houston, Texas.

Carr becomes the 17th command sergeant major in the two-star command’s history.

Maj. Gen. Steven A. Shapiro, 21st TSC commanding general, praised Delgado for his work on improving the quality of life of Soldiers. Shapiro also thanked him for his time, coaching and mentorship. However, Shapiro did not let Delgado go without giving some light-hearted jesting.

“I know how hard it can be, especially being overseas,” Shapiro said. “However, there’s nothing better than being a Soldier and being a Soldier in U.S. Army Europe. So, are you moving on to something bigger? Yes. Better? Not in your life.”

Shapiro went on to say that Delgado had planted seeds of readiness that were just now starting to bloom and was looking forward continuing that positive momentum with Carr.

Delgado credited his Soldiers for their hard work.

“You’re a terrific team that left it all on the field for me,” he said. “You did everything I asked and more, with good grace, good humor, professional competence and maturity beyond your years. Because of you, this organization is ready.”

Carr comes to the 21st Theater Sustainment Command after serving as the command sergeant major of the 409th Contracting Support Brigade.

“There’s no other unit I’d rather be joining than team 21,” Carr said. “This is a dynamic and unique sustainment command that literally deters aggression from the Baltics to the Black Sea by delivering and sustaining readiness. I look forward to keeping the 21st TSC as a source of great pride in (U.S. Army Europe) and our Army.”
