Military musicians in U.S. Army camouflage uniforms perform as a brass ensemble, reading from sheet music on stands. The foreground soldier plays a gold/brass trumpet while others behind him play larger brass instruments including what appear to be tubas or euphoniums. The patch on the foreground soldier's shoulder reads 'USAREUR AF BAND', identifying this as the United States Army Europe and Africa Band.

U.S. Army Soldiers assigned to the U.S. Army Europe and Africa Band perform during the commemoration honoring the U.S. Army’s 82nd Airborne Division at Radboud University Medical Center in Nijmegen, Netherlands, Sept. 18, 2026. The commemoration celebrated the sister city connection between Albany and Nijmegen and recognized the post-war aid Maj. Gen. James M. Gavin provided to the city of Nijmegen. As the United States marks 250 years of independence, Operation Market Garden commemorations offer a living example of the long relationship between Americans and the Dutch. From Dutch trade and support during the American Revolution, symbolized by the First Salute at St. Eustatius in 1776, to American and Allied forces fighting together in the Netherlands in 1944, that history continues today through communities that preserve the memory of those who served and through an enduring U.S.-Dutch partnership.
