An Oklahoma National Guard CH-47 Chinook dumps water on an Arkansas wildfire, Sept 18, 2026, in an effort to help fight the Calhoun County wildfire. The fire began Sept. 14, 2026, and threatened the 19,000-acre Highland Industrial Park in East Camden, Ark. The park is home to several defense contractors that build numerous high-tech weapons used by the Department of War. The Oklahoma National Guard was able to support the state of Arkansas through an Emergency Management Assistance Compact request. EMAC is a national interstate mutual aid agreement that enables states to share resources during times of disaster. The Oklahoma National Guard helicopter and crew are expected to fly missions through Sept. 21, 2026, and return home Sept. 22, 2026.
