A Mississippi National Guard CH-47 Chinook airdrops water Sept 18, 2026, to help fight the Calhoun County wildfire. The fire began Sept. 14, 2026, and threatened the 19,000-acre Highland Industrial Park in East Camden, Ark. The park is home to several defense contractors that build numerous high-tech weapons used by the Department of War. The Mississippi National Guard was able to support the state of Arkansas through an Emergency Management Assistance Compact request. EMAC is a national interstate mutual aid agreement that enables states to share resources during times of disaster. The Mississippi National Guard helicopter and crew are expected to fly missions through Sept. 21, 2026, and return home Sept. 22, 2026.
