A brick wall displays seven green triangular memorial plaques from 'triangleoftribute.com', each bearing a silhouette profile and honoring American soldiers killed in action on 17 September 1944. The soldiers were members of the 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division. Small American flags and flowers have been placed at the base of the wall as a tribute.

Seven paratroopers lost their lives during the fighting around Lock Bridge in Heumen. These Soldiers were Lawrence F. Blazina, Onie A. Burnett, Donald W. Forein, Fred Grainger, Patrick J. Mcgrath, Jerry M. Murphy and Edward J. Schutt. Their names now stand near the place where they fought. A ceremony was held in Heumen, Netherlands, Sept. 17, 2026. As the United States marks 250 years of independence, Operation Market Garden commemorations offer a living example of the long relationship between Americans and the Dutch. From Dutch trade and support during the American Revolution, symbolized by the First Salute at St. Eustatius in 1776, to American and Allied forces fighting together in the Netherlands in 1944, that history continues today through communities that preserve the memory of those who served and through an enduring U.S.-Dutch partnership.
