AFIT researchers are exploring how small unmanned aircraft systems could help Airmen Engineers assess damaged airfields faster and from a safer distance. By delivering a clearer picture of hazards before personnel enter harm’s way, the technology could accelerate airfield recovery and restore combat power at the speed the mission requires.
