U.S. Army Soldiers assigned to the 82nd Airborne Division reach Salto del Otorongo, or “Jaguar Leap,” in Sauce, Peru, during the Southern Vanguard 2026 field training exercise. The Jaguar Leap training lane incorporates waterborne operations, allowing participants to apply skills developed during jungle swimming and waterborne mobility training in the Peruvian Amazon.

SV26 brings together approximately 400 warfighters to execute a field training exercise and command post exercise in a demanding austere jungle environment. The training includes combined operations designed to simulate real-world contingencies in the complex terrain of the Amazon Jungle.
