    DC National Guard

    U.S. Army Sgt. 1st Class Antonio Acevedo, Senior Enlisted Leader for the District of Columbia Army National Guard Aviation Battalion, was promoted to the rank of Sergeant Major during a ceremony attended by family, friends and colleagues at Davison Army Airfield, Fort Belvoir, Virginia, Sept. 13, 2026. Lt. Col. Ryan Rooks, State Army Aviation Officer for the District of Columbia Army National Guard, officiated the ceremony.
    Originally from Los Angeles, California, Acevedo entered active-duty Army service in 2003 as a Black Hawk helicopter repairer. Throughout his active-duty career, he served at multiple duty stations, including Camp Stanley, South Korea; Landstuhl, Germany; Aviano, Italy; Sikorsky Aircraft in Stratford, Connecticut; Fort Hood, Texas; and Fort Bliss, Texas. He also deployed in support of operations in Iraq and Afghanistan.
    After leaving active duty in 2016, Acevedo joined the District of Columbia Army National Guard, where he served as a company first sergeant and later deployed to Afghanistan with the 1st Battalion, 226th Aviation Regiment. He has served as the Aviation Battalion’s Senior Enlisted Leader since 2024. More recently, the National Guard Bureau selected Acevedo to provide subject-matter expertise on the implementation of the Aviation Maintainer Training Program at the U.S. Army Aviation Center of Excellence.
