POMPEII, Italy (Sept. 11, 2026) Capt. Benjamin Foster, commanding officer of U.S. Naval Support Activity (NSA) Naples, participates in a wreath-laying ceremony during the City of Pompeii’s 25th-anniversary commemoration of Sept. 11, 2001, at the city’s Sept. 11 memorial in Piazza Bartolo Longo, Pompeii, Italy, Sept. 11, 2026. The memorial incorporates a fragment of a structural beam from the World Trade Center and serves as a lasting symbol of remembrance and the connection between the people of Pompeii and the United States. NSA Naples is an operational ashore base home to over 55 tenant commands and 8,500 personnel. Providing a forward-deployed platform to the fleet that enables the warfighter and supports the family, NSA Naples supports U.S. Naval Forces Europe-Africa, U.S. Sixth Fleet, NATO, and combatant commander strategic priorities to ensure stability across the European, African, and Central Command areas of responsibility.
