POMPEII, Italy (Sept. 11, 2026) Capt. Benjamin Foster, commanding officer of U.S. Naval Support Activity (NSA) Naples, joins Pompeii Mayor Giuseppe Tortora and U.S. Consul General in Naples Terrence Flynn during the City of Pompeii’s 25th-anniversary commemoration of Sept. 11, 2001, in Pompeii, Italy, Sept. 11, 2026. The commemoration brought together Italian and U.S. civilian, military and religious leaders to honor those affected by the events of Sept. 11 and underscore the enduring relationship between the United States and Italy. NSA Naples is an operational ashore base home to over 55 tenant commands and 8,500 personnel. Providing a forward-deployed platform to the fleet that enables the warfighter and supports the family, NSA Naples supports U.S. Naval Forces Europe-Africa, U.S. Sixth Fleet, NATO, and combatant commander strategic priorities to ensure stability across the European, African, and Central Command areas of responsibility.
