U.S. Soldiers assigned to the 82nd Airborne Division and Peruvian soldiers assigned to the 5th Amazon Protection Brigade conduct jungle swimming training during Southern Vanguard 26 in Sauce, Peru, Sept. 10, 2026. The training reinforces common standards for amphibious tactics to strengthen multinational interoperability and warfighting readiness.
SV26 brings together approximately 400 warfighters to execute a field training exercise and command post exercise in a demanding austere jungle environment. The training includes combined operations designed to simulate real-world contingencies in the complex terrain of the Amazon Jungle hills of Sauce, Peru.
