The image shows two men standing in what appears to be a medical or institutional facility. One man is wearing a white lab coat with 'H.M.P/IS' embroidered on it and glasses, appearing to be speaking or presenting. A colorful framed artwork with text reading 'KHEM BIUN ADION' is visible on the wall behind them.

Angolan Armed Forces Capt. Baltimore de Matos, a surgeon assigned to the Hospital Militar Principal, leads a tropical medicine class for U.S. Army Reserve medical professionals assigned to the 915th Forward Resuscitative Surgical Detachment, 313th Hospital Center, 2nd Medical Brigade, and Angolan Armed Forces medical professionals during the Medical Readiness Exercise at Hospital Militar Principal in Luanda, Angola, Sept. 9, 2026. The class strengthened the team’s understanding of region-specific diseases and treatment considerations that may affect the FRSD’s ability to provide expeditionary emergency and surgical care in tropical environments. MEDREX enhanced the medical readiness and capabilities of U.S. and Angolan military health professionals through clinical collaboration and subject-matter-expert exchanges. U.S. Army Southern European Task Force, Africa (SETAF-AF) planned and executed the MEDREX, which brought 10 U.S. Army Reserve medical professionals together with Angolan counterparts for clinical collaboration and subject-matter expert exchanges.
