Liam Kearney, a machine gunner assigned to 3rd Littoral Combat Team, 3rd Marine Littoral Regiment, 3rd Marine Division, fires an M4 carbine at simulated targets during a short-bay range for a live-fire basic skills package at Marine Corps Base Hawaii, Sept. 1, 2026. The live-fire training focused on combat readiness and small-unit leadership through long and short-bay drills, fragmentation grenade employment, and a heavy explosive weapons package, developing 3rd LCT’s team leaders’ ability to employ Marines and make sound decisions in a dynamic combat environment.
